I've just had an email from one a new customer of mine. They phoned up their old window cleaner to cancel as they weren't very good (customers words, not mine) and were told that they would have to pay a £10 cancellation fee. If they didn't pay the fee then the window cleaner would be able to claim a years cleaning costs from them!

The window cleaner should get a grip and just accept the loss of a customer without spreading such claptrap like that. It does none of us in the industry any favours.
