GG3 is used if you are in a soft water area, while GG4 is for hard water. If you don't know how hard/soft your water is, you could phone your local waterboard and ask them. Here's a link to a thread to do with GG4 - You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login - the search button's a great thing, you'll find it at the top of the page beside the help button. Some folk use washing-up liquid, which gives lots of lather (which takes longer to clear away to make the job look good) leaves a film on the glass which attracts dirt, it strips the oils out of your skin, and is a [ I should have amended this post ] to get rid of from the frames when you convert to water-fed pole work. Others use a detergent which is designed expressly for cleaning windows (GG3/4 is just one example) Visit an online supplier and go to liquids or detergent to see the range.

I"ve used GG-4, Sqeegee Off and Fairy, decided to stay with Sqeege Off. Seems to be the best for me.

Fairy Liquid!! NO WAY!! Why do so many of you use it? Dishwashing liquid is for cowboys! Real window cleaners use professional detergents such as Unger's window cleaning fluid or GG4. Why? fairy Liquid is... well, the composition is a bit like grit. It is great for getting grease of a plate, but not a window! You want a gentler fluid for windows. Moreover, professional window cleaning detergents will make as much soapy bubbles, so if you miss a bit, less streaks. But most importantly, your squeegee will meet less friction because there is not "grit"!!! It just glides. Back when I first started window cleaner, I used dishwashing liquid for about a week. It was horrible stuff! Then I discovered Unger's fluid and haven't gone back to Tesco for my cleaning chemicals. I introduced a friend to it and he also has put dishwashing liquid behind him. Time to raise the standard guys!! Luke Jones FIEC The Institute of Exterior Cleaning A standard you can trust!

I am using unger liquid with a touch of unger gel directly on the sleeve when needed. Works well for me.

don't want to rock the boat with all you soapy guys...but the pole is greener, doesn't harm the environment and arguably does a better job without the use of detergents...but maybe that's a whole new thread...

what's the carbon footprint of a WFP system??? with all those metres of pipes and the whole system?? power needed to run the system. quite a bit more than a squeegee. probably all swings and roundabouts though.

Getting back to the subject I used Fairy today as I ran out of "THE PROFESSONAL STUFF" and was too far from home to nip back and get some more so I went into Tesco and bought a Fairy liquid and was really amazed at the finish I got with it,I only put a tad in and the windows were "SPARKLING"..................I have never got a finish like this before with other liquids, why does everybody not like using it !

Slash, used it for as long as I can remember, that is until it got such a slating on this forum. Now using glimmer gleam. To me this is far better than fairy,no where near a s much mopping up,sill cloths not as wet,and by far less detailing.all being said a lot quicker on day.Fairy attracts dirt too, where as glimmer is anti static and kinder to our only pair of hands.Look after. Scoot.

when i first started 10 years ago i used fairy for abou 2 years then i found ulger liquid which compare to fairy was expense but wat the hell boufht some. i dont like this i said but carryed on reguardless. it was when i went back to the houses and suddenly no more srubbing like mad to remove all the sticky old fairy off mixed with dirt but found it much easyer to mop then blade therefore quicker as thye glass was cleaner.
been using gg3 now for the last few years and i feell you cant beat it glass just seems to stay cleaner and can use it in the rain without get rain spots to bad unlike fairy they got trashed
i am now wfp but still use gg3 for some trad work and insides
try some gg3 it may take a bit of time to get used to but i found it the best and quikest way to clean glass apart from usiung wfp gg3 is the next best way

I have used so many pro window cleaners soaps, and now have gone back to washing liquid, a cheap one to.
GG4 - Hated it
Ugers Liquid - Found it left a film on the glass, especially large sheet of glass, and when it is sunny.
Ungers Gel - Found it had to be diluted first, before use. They say use it straight from the container, but it does not sud very well. Also leaves a build up of a blackish paste on the lower part of the frame, when used for long periods.
Unger The Pill - Rubbish
Glimmer Clean - Used it, suds well, might as well use washing liquid.
Squeegee Off - Ok, but can work out expensive, again if washing large areas of glass.

Ecover works for me for inside domestic work but use wfp for every external domestic job now. By the way before someone implies I'm no cowboy either
