Ive been a window cleaner since I left school, so nearly 20 years ! and I have met loads of window cleaners through selling work or just friends of mine that do it, and I have been out with a few of them occasionally or even walked across the road out to have a look at another window cleaners work If I spot one out and about, And Very rarely do they do it properly and im surprised how they actually get payed !

Your right about setting the standard mate, Most of the time when Ive passed on window cleaning rounds onto other window cleaners I get phone calls from the customers telling me that they are not happy with the new window cleaner, it shouldn't really matter to me by then as Ive had my money from the sale of the round but I prefere everyone to be happy, so I find myself going out with the buyer of the round and showing him how to do it properly, I dont understand how people think they can clean a house properly in 5 mins

I do Trad and wfp....Got into the habit of detailing and cleaning sills and doors and customers notice these things and set you apart from those who don't. Lost count of the many comments "My old window cleaner never did that"....My wfp customers comment how quick a wfp clean is but i reply that it is also a safer clean while also making an effort to wipe away residue from steps and patio doors....Too many WC's take their customers for granted i think....

it depends on your cleaning system.. if you can get into the habit of doing a good job. then the next clean will be easier .. dirt does not run away it stays and builds up over time... so doing little things like changing your water and wringing your cloths out well for wiping help... so does understanding instinctively what your cussie wants or expects. if they expect too much and they are not willing to pay. well thats where you get the word Dilemma or catch 22.
getting into good cleaning habits is a must.. doing a bad job only brings insecurity and unhappy customers

Sounds like you lads do a proper job, the way it should be done, it only takes a few extra minutes to wipe the door down and wipe the sills properly dont it. Keep your customer happy and you rarely lose em

Yeah I've heard this before Mike, everyone keeps telling me to do the wfp system, I might look into it cos its definetly safer, I fell off a concervatory roof at the begining of June and broke my ankle lol, I do the windows above the conservatory if I can get to them as well mate, I have only just got the cast off ! still not walking properly

yes and no its mainly hard to got the customers use to it, and you have to learn what to do differently with the frames and vents and making sure the scrub is good for a first clean

It is definately a skill to be able to wfp properly I reccon it took me a full year to be able to say confidently to a customer tha the windows would come up great. Different windows behave differently and only experiance will teach you what to look out for. It adds alot of versatility to your business and alot of customers who have a good water fed cleaner will not go back.

the concept of not cleaning a window properly boggles me.
Taking the time to get a scraper out and scrape the bird mess off if needed, using a scrim to do the edges if you are doing it Traditionally, getting into the corners, wiping the sills and frames down. Some blokes think that just cos they run the squeegee over the glass it means its done, well its not done properly unless you take your time and make sure you get all the water on the blade, if you miss bits then it aint done properly and it'll look rubbish
