Been doing m&co for 5 years. Quite a large store and charged them £25 per clean. Got a letter to say the nationals are taking over in Jan. They had a number on the letter so i phoned them. They were wanting the job done for £5.50. I said its not April 1st. They were serious.
I told them there is no way I would be doing it and found it insulting to think that i would even consider it at that price.

Thats what we are dealing with now. I dont know how the f--k they can do it. Thats another one to the nationals.

aye I heard that last month, none in my town anyway, a lot of these deals are a bit random, I get a good price from a national for two plates of glass but if other stores are being done for the same price it would be madness

yes I know mate some times it can work in your favour, sometimes not, I refuse the sometimes nots, some of these cleaning company's work it out on floor space Huh? regardless of the amount of glass, so you can get an excellent price on a large shop with very little glass, but be asked to do a small shop with lots of glass, and some just do a price per store, and if you are lucky it works out ok, if not then not worth doing, but some company's are doing ok as they take the hit on the bigger stores and make there money on the smaller ones, all madness but that is it how it is

that is ridiculous. if it was 1970 it might be ok.
i was once asked to clean a woolys on behalf of some company or other, which entailed a lot of glass, albeit at ground/pointer level in and out plus other things around, i did'nt even know what one of the things was 3x a week for £15! i was pondering how i could possibly do it just spot cleaning insides for eg, and was driving past one day and was a w/c doing it. they said they had no one but i think they just wanted rid, but once i'd seen him i did'nt even get back to them Grin

That's ridiculous.  This is one of the reasons I am pleased I don't have commercial work.  It's ruthless.

same happend to me stu.
i lost M&CO  aswell as BOOTS this week.
but as i have said before if all the window cleaners stuck together and refused these national companys work they would be f**ked, as all they do is outprice me and you guys.
and then subcontract it out and expect us to do the same job for pennies ask you to find cover if you go on holiday & supply your own public liability insurane.and wait months to get paid.
if they had to supply there own employees for one or two jobs in every town with holiday & sick pay they woud not bother priceing these jobs
there are SCUM  and dont care about guys like us just trying yo make a steady living.

I didn't bother to phone the number on the M&co letter. The sub contractor for my part of Scotland is Thistle, they then sub it again to a local team of JW, he then get's another guy to do it with a brush shaft. Got Greggs of me last year as well.
I only charged M&co six quid per clean though, 5 minute job really.
