I've been following this thread as i still do most of mine trad and will be trying this out myself this week . I am new to WFP and use a backpack & Trolley system for some jobs and finding it very useful (but having troble with the RO output at the mo). This might sound mental but, Just wondering if the ecover dishwasher rinse aid would work with trad or even wfp? As it is designed specifically for this purpuse:
Rinse Aid decription: For naturally shiny dishes without streaks Prevents calcium deposits No residue of unnecessary chemicals on your dishes Environmental advantage: Quick and complete biodegradability. (OECD-test 301F, full product) Minimum impact on aquatic life. (OECD-test 201&202, full product) Against animal testing Suitable for septic tanks. Just a randam thought!

I too have been following this thread since the start. I have used all the usual detergents inc squeegee off, gg3, gg4, fairy, stardrops, unger liquid and others yet have never found one that had good glide along with no residue, it always seems that one is sacrificed for the other. I had settled on unger liquid used with unger hard rubbers, the glide is pretty good and has very low suds so cills are easier. Recently though i noticed after cleaning some ins n outs that the unger is leaving a film that can be seen in the sunlight, especially from the inside, not on all houses but enough to make me look for something else. It seemed for me in a hard water area that getting a detergent that is good in all aspects that we need is nigh on impossible! So I have followed this thread with interest and have been prompted to try it myself. I am now on my 3rd week. I wasn't too sure in the 1st few days what I thought, it seemed as good as anything else but not spectacular as is being said (the smell of vinegar was very strong using the amount recommended and I would not use it inside someone's house). I then started varying the ratio of Eco to vinegar. At the moment I am using 20 ml of Eco and 30ml of Sarsons clear malt vinegar (tesco 40p). I'm still not sure though about it though. There are a lot of suds with just 20 ml of eco (which is a lot less than the 2 x 2 sec squirts recommended) thus more time taken and cloths used wiping cills. The glide is pretty good though not really any better than using unger liquid, it can still stick a little at corner turns etc. Where it comes into its own I think is in the job it does of cleaning along with from what I can tell, very little residue. The glass does seem cleaner. Another negative I came across this this week though is a bit of water 'creep' on the edges of the glass in the early morning colder weather. This may be a big problem during the colder months and would definitely put me off if it, nothing so annoying as glass creep in the cold. I will continue to experiment with ratios and definitely keep using it for a few months (as long as the glass creep doesnt get worse) to give it a good go, see what its like on follow up cleans etc. I reserve judgement for now. Would be good if others who have used it give their opinions, hard or soft water area, what ratios used and results etc

I'm in a super hard water area (Mallorca) & have been using Ecover all purpose cleaner for the last day or so. I can't get the washing up liquid here! But the results are OK, although I may look at adding something else in the coming week or so if it stops raining! The ingredients between the all purpose & washing-up liquid are very similar. If anyone has both, I'd be interested in which is superior?

what way are you using your squeegee? as you should have no detailing at all so must be the way you clean? can you give details and may be able to help!

In general,I`ve got to agree with WhoStolemyHair on this. Although hav`nt had any time to experiment on the WFP Side of things. The smoothness of the glass and general `slip`of the rubber Is great I find.No residue will always be a bonus too. Lewis Doubtfire

after 20 years of window cleaning the Ecover is not the strongest not the soapiest ( i hate too much soap anyway ). but its the best for direct sunlight i have ever used . period.. so if your cleaning on a cloudy day with what ever detergent wait till that sun shines and your not there. this is when all your mistakes and dirty cloths will show up .. but with the Ecover you can make your life a lot easier ..because you can pretty much be guaranteed this will not happen or will be greatly reduced and greatly is the operative word !..except if your using dirty water or dirty cloths / detailing or a bad technique

i still do trad on the ground floor windows and use this mix , sorry time,(secs not mills), 25ltr rainwater or purewater,1 bottle 568 size of vinegar , 29p from Lidl, 5 to 6 second squirt of ecover. The 25ltr container i got from Go - outdoors , it's really handy as it has a tap on it so i can easily transfer it into used washing up liquid bottles , which i use by squirting onto the mop applicator.

Been doing a bit of testing myself and have come across a product that is added to your mix and makes the glass shine like you have never seen before! It is the best shine i have ever seen! absolutely stunning shine! Much better than the ecover shine! all i have to do now is wait and see how long it stays clean for to see if it will match ecover! it is so good my customers have all been talking about the shine on their windows and asking what i used, but told them trade secret! honestly this stuff is phenomenal, plus i have found a cleaning liquid that contains no soap! happy days! ps. if this stuff works with wfp as well then it will be the end for ecover! it is really that good. ecover sales will drop like a ton of bricks! oh dear!

I am curious to see how this stuff performs. I don't actually use Ecover as I use a soap that outperforms it in terms of shine, HG Window Cleaner. The shine you get with HG is amazing, so I am interested to see if it can be topped. We'll have to wait and see. I don't understand what the big secret is, are you hoping to take out a patent on it or something? On the subject of 'spotting' I came across something interesting today. 8 weeks ago I was cleaning the windows on two different houses that both had bug droppings on the glass. I thought I'd try and use some HG UPVC Cleaner on it, since it is VERY powerful, and gets bug droppings off PVC with no effort at all. It worked great on the glass too, they came straight off, so I thought I'll bear that in mind for the summer when I have to deal with them every day. Anyway, 8 weeks later, today, I went to do the two houses again, and found that the windows were spotless. Shiny, no rain spotting or anything. Seriously they were so clean I could have just not bothered cleaning them (but I did of course ) Both houses were exactly the same. A coincidence? Maybe. I'm going to buy another bottle a see how it goes.
