I have a x2 pair joka's and they are good , use them for the really cold days , first hour or two .
then I have some unger neopreane and they are good , but smell .
also a pair of gardiner winter gloves , which are ok but wear quickly .
using the slx i wear gloves all year round , lightweight ones for about 11 months of the year to avoid the black hand syndrome of the slx .

Tried most types of gloves.  This year I have a pair of Youngstown
Winter gloves.  Still breaking them in but seem the best so far.

Try wearing disposable rubber liners under your neoprene glove,it'll stop the smell going onto your hands. And when you get new ones,it'll stop them smelling all together Wink

I've got various gloves on the go at the minute.I have the joka polar which are very warm but very big and  heavy (saving them for proper proper cold days). The last couple of days i have been using the joka hold gloves with a thin glove liner underneath and this combination keeps your hands nice and warm and dry.Down side is you have 2 pairs of gloves on and this is a bit of a pain when you have to take them off and put them back on again. Then for the last hour today i tried a £5 pair of ski gloves from directsports - not bad at all.Hands lovely and warm, pretty good waterproofing.Slight negative probably not as good grip.

Avoid Sealskinz at all costs. They cost a bomb but are cheap  dung that will fall apart in a week if you're lucky.

I'm using the Youngstown ones at the moment and they're excellent. I'll be buying them again when (if!) they wear out.

Been using my Joka Polar gloves past 2 weeks. Like them  alot. They are big and clumsy (no good for trad), but they are very easy to get on/off if you need to open a fiddlely gate etc.

They do seem very tight (loosen up a little over time), and sometimes if ur hands go into them whilst freezing cold, the tightness seems to keep end of fingers cold. So I suggest rubbing/clapping hands together to get blood flowing for few secs before putting them on if it's freezing. Sounds daft but works for me!

I had sealskinz ultra tough last year and they a) fell apart, b) were not waterproof (partly because using the pole the water runs over the hands then soaks into the cuff) and c) were not keeping my hands warm.

This year I'm using rip curl wetsuit surfing gloves. They don't keep your hands dry, they do stink but you retain dexterity and being that they are designed to keep your hands warm when they are wet - they actually do! So I don't mind having wet hands!

After messing around for year's with Neoprene gloves that always fell apart before the winter was out, not to mention stank like a hoors hole, I splashed out on these this year. Best gloves in the whole Universe and beyond by a mile and a bit. Tough as nail's they are and nice and warm too, even in biting cold north wind's. Hunner pir sent water proof too, and go long enough up yir sleeve so no water can get up inside them.

On the ebay ad it says rrp is £14.99 - which is why he is selling them for £16.99!!! Dork!!
They're just £2 chemical gloves with a furry insert - Genius! are they really THAT good?

Been out in the cold all my working life, these are the best I have ever worn. All the North Sea trawler men wear them because they are so tough and warm, seriously, I would have paid a lot more for these. Worth every single penny and more. You get two pair, read the ad.
Dork....
