she came out today and offered a cuppa, then told me to watch where I stood, and be careful of her plants. I replied that I was watching out,she came for a closer look, then yelled at me to get off where I was standing,as I was standing on her plants,(which I wasn't). She yelled at me again to get off, then stormed off inside, shouting "its a garden for god's sake" I had done 3 top windows by this time, and I thought "I'm not taking this!",so I reeled the hose in and walked off the job, leaving it unfinished, and I won't be back. Would you have done the same?

Yes, But!!!!!. We can all have bad days and on a given day say or do things we might otherwise not. When you are back in the area, she might change her tune......The old saying "Queer as People" comes to mind.We don't know what's going on in peoples lives.

I have had words with her before, she noticed that the hose was tangled in one of her garden bushes, before i had a chance to remove it ,she was straight in there, doing it herself, she then accused me of snapping a branch off said bush. When I looked at the snapped branch, the inside was brown,so it had been like that for a while,if it had been done there and then, the branch would have been white inside. I tried to point this out,but she wouldn't have it

If it's a good job money wise I'd grin and bear it,if it's nothing special I would have also packed up and left her there moaning to herself in a cloud of blue smoke as I drove off.

I had one a few years ago, it was when i were on Ladder work....,anyway did the job, went back later to collect and the hubby came out to pay, we got chatting and he said " she's not happy ", " why" i replied, "because you broke a leaf of the Virginia creeper...." this creeper was growing up the front of the house and onto the windows, so i said "theres not alot i can do about it, but in future i would clean around the leaves.....! " Went to clean them next time.....did job, cleaned around the leaves........went to collect, he came out again...." she's not happy....!" "why this time" i said, " because the day after you cleaned them it rained.......!" Well you probably know the rest.......yes that's it.......BINNED 'EM.......!

Its a touchy one,her daughter is also a custie in the same street, and her son in law is the one who pays me,at his business which is on my street. I really don't want to go back, unless she apologises for treating me like a 10 year old.

You have a bit of a quandry there....I would grab the bull by the horns and speak to the Son In Law, being tactful what you say . He might take your side.

Speak to the son in law, he probably doesnt dare fart when he pops round, so will probably see your side and it will be fine.

Why dont people just say "sorry I dont want the windows cleaned anymore" think it's the guilt thing if they get you to leave the job it's easier ? had several say "were painting leave them for a while I'll get back to you" they never do then you go round give them a nudge & "sorry leave them".

update: saw the son in law today, she'd already been on to him, he didn't seem bothered,so as far as I'm concerned, she's dumped and he'll be kept on.

I didn''t think he'd be bothered at all,I've known him a long time, onwards and upwards,I've been too soft too long. Going off topic slightly, going to clamp down on bad payers this year,a few just string me along as long as they can to avoid payment. NOT ANY MORE!!,if I don't get paid on collecting night, they don't get the job done any more

I did something a bit silly and unproffesional a couple of years ago....... i did this pub , lovely little job.... £25 for 20 minits work........ but one day I was half way through, and one of the bar staff came out and said "the boss is saying can you leave it today" the bar staff guy was clearly embarrassed! I was in a bit of a mood that morning... so I put fairy liquid all over my brush and soaped up all the windows and left them to dry.......... then I said to the bar staff guy ..... "ok... I wont squeegy them off" lol i'm wfp .... thing is I was pissed off because the pub owner didnt come to me in person! I am a bit ashamed , but i was pissed off

you did the right thing, otherwise she would think she had you were she wanted you and think you would jump through hoops for her, theres much better customers out there than her so just shrug it off and forget her. As you stated you had history with her and I suspect there must have been times when you were walking on eggshells because of her ? if so then that problem has now gone. as for the bad payers, well every January I have a purge down on all the ones that gave me the run around over the previous year and without telling them I just drop them because I believe they dont even deserve to be told, have just taken 11 off my books so wont be getting the run around off them this year and feel better for it already.
