Hey chaps,

I don't wanna be controversial here, but I've found that I've had loads of problems with the Autobrush. The problem for me is that the autobar keeps riding up, so that it doesn't catch the on-off switch. It's caused me no end of problems - ie when the pole is 4 storeys high and the water wont switch on - nothing quite as demoralising as having to keep taking pole down etc

Ive already been through two autobars, as i thought it might have been one of those that was faulty, and ive bought two new lots of brackets incase they were faulty, but sure enough it still rides up and wont switch on or off via the bar?

It reassures me though to hear that you lot rate it, perhaps it's been a problem unique to mine? Peter have you got any ideas mate, would love to sort it out as am wasting loads of water without it...

Cheers,

Hi Granty, It may be just the positioning of the bar that is a fraction out.  Try positioning the brackets down a touch so as the space in the bar is further down the switch toggle.  Do you have a spare brush? If so you could send that one back for me to fix.

Cheers,

I gotta say,.. I've used one every day for 6 months and I've never once had that problem,... as Peter said, the bracket must be slightly out of position.

i find that the autobrush is 99% reliable, which means that 1% of the time you will find things that annoy you..ie the bar misses the actual switch etc......all you do is spend a couple mins fixing the problem...i have spent on average a minute per month making adjustments to mine in the time i have had mine...but i figure if you are spending 6 hours a day hitting the bar off a window frame you need to allow for that...all in all i find that it beats taps levers anyday. Cool

hi . i have a similar switch to peters. i started with a bar but found it to be a little clunky. my new idea was 2 tubes of alumiminium pipe from b@q .the outer is 16 mil and i fix it to the brush with the fasteners plumbers use to fix 15 mil piping to walls etc .with this pipe being 16 mil it is really nice and tight.the next size pipe runs inside this one and runs freely.this is the pipe whitch overhangs  the brush slightly at each end like the autobrush. when i get the desired lenghth i file a little section through both pipes in the middle creating a slot and this is where the toggle of the switch seats.i jubilee clip the switch to the pole nice and tightly and your off .the toggle works the same way as peters from then on by tapping either side for on or off .

Do you use the same switch as Peter does?
If not,... what weight is it, and where do I get one?

I am sure it is the expensive one I used to use.  I have not looked out the information yet as I have been really busy but I will tomorrow.  The particular switch I am on about though is more difficult to fit to the brush, and the toggle wants to spin round.

I cannot work it out either Peter, its one of Joes secrets, but I dont think electrics got anything to do with it, its just how the water gets from the botttom to the top that I cannot work out.

Does the whole pole fill with water then?
I cant see how there could be tubing inside unless it was extremely stretchy hose... no I cant understand how it works!
Great idea though  Cool

The water goes up the hose that travels up through the pole.  The higher the pole goes the more hose that feeds in through the bottom.
