hi guys. i drive a 54plate peugeot expert van. im having real problems getting it started in the mornings during this period of cold weather.
I changed the battery yesterday to no avail, but i dont wont to keep spending money on problems which im not 100% sure are the root cause!
Any suggestions? And is anyone else having similar problems?
its now 11.15 am and its still not starting so im sat here on my back side twiddling my thumbs, eager to get 2 work!
The thing is after the sun hits my bonnet at around noon, bang,,, shes alive!!!

Simple

Buy a new set of HEATER plugs .

This pre-heats diesel ignition .

A Spark plug ignites the petrol , the Heater plugs / Glow Plugs pre-heat the diesel so then it ignites the fuel .
If not working it will take agaes to heat the diesel , hence tempretures above ZERO .

Be like a new van on starting with these fitted .

99% Glow plugs - Two weeks ago I got the same problem. Mechanic who was changing the glow plugs said that only two were working properly.   £80 quid spent and my diesel starts like virgin.

Cry I had a peugot van , never ever again . Never knew when it was going to start , spent loads on it . Like the advice on here i started with the glowplugs and the last thing i replaced was a solenoid in the diesel pump. The pile of junk still wasn't reliable and i was glad to get shot of it. Hope you have better luck , perhaps mine was built on a friday afternoon Wink

Had a guy look at the van today. He reckons it is the glowplugs, but there hidden behind the manifold so im looking at 150 quid minimum to change them! Sad  That after i just spent 80 on a new battery (which didnt help in the slightest)

This week has been a big wake up call for me. Its been my 1st winter using WFP an man iv struggled. Van not starting, pipes in my RO system frozen, even tho its kept in a insulated cupboard, so iv been unable to fill up. even my 400 litre tank is half frozen.
So today iv bought a greenhouse/conservatory heater from b&q, 22quid. tomorrow il be mounting my system back into the van with the heater on all night. hopefully that will stop mr jack frost messing with my ****!

see before you get the glow plugs done check the heater relay. it is on the  left hand side of the engine on the wing it could be u/s and is easier  and cheaper to fix
