HI all there are still many of my customers that just do not like the WFP, That I am going back to Trad. Instead of explaining why to all the customers I have made a letter explaining it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear customer As you know we have been cleaning your windows for the past 5 years with ladderless technology ( WFP ) we have decided to go back to the old ways for a number of reasons they are as follows 1 WORSER CLEANING RESULTS As you know we have been using pure water, but know we will be using soap ( the same as you use to do your dishes with) your windows will be dry but will get dirty quicker............................. GET USED TO IT 2 LESS WORK FOR ME BUT NOT FOR YOU if you had a conservatory we used to clean above it with the pole, but we cannot do that now so you will have to lean out and do it yourself GET USED TO IT 3 MORE FUEL If you had a car on the drive we will dusturb you and ask you to move it as we need to get ladders to the window wich means starting your car 4 LESS PRIVACY you are going to lose more privacy I will be looking 5 IT IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT ? that all trad window cleaners are cowboys 6 MORE MESS we will now be putting holes in your garden from the ladders and if there is water in these holes the ladders are going to drip dirty water all over your drive and these look like little cowpats ...................... GET USED TO IT 7 DAMAGE I wii be standing on more roofs now So I might break your tiles ( but your windows will be dry ) 8 ENVIRONMENTLY UNKNOWN We used to clean your windows using pure water and knowing all about it, but now we are using soapy water... there is going to be dirty water..... dust..Bird-muck in there... Grit...Rabbies...and who knows what else ( but your window will be dry ) 9 SAFETY I could fall on your property and will sue 10 IF you are not happy with the new change or do not want us to use this method that dates back to the dinosaurs we will carry on as proffesional window cleaners and use the new method WFP it is the way and the future Adders -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tooshey dazmond As you know trad is an excellent tool and I would be lost without it so what made me put up a post like this Well yesterday I was having a good day all my work was WFP, then one of my customers came out and said that they still prefer me to go up the ladders .. This surprised me as I clean above her conservatory that I could not do before So after that I was going round my work thinking if I still was on ladders how would this work affect me and my customers? The next house had a car on the drive I clean the windows by stepping to the side of it and reaching the window...... But If I was on ladders I would of had to ask them to move it... WFP has its advantages but trad will always be a important part of window cleaning...... Buy the way on C.I.U you say that you are changing over to WFP ? hows that going for you I must warn you the first few months are the hardest All the best m8 Adders

i changed to wfp 4 months ago now and all my custies love it ive had 1 or 2 not like it at first cos of the way they are cleaned but even they love it now i had one person phone me up to clean there windows and when i told him how i clean them he said no so i asked him had he ever had them cleaned this way before he said no so i said so y are you against it he said my old window cleaner said it was rubbish so i said well where is your window cleaner now he said i got rid off him cos he kept leaving smears on glass {he was trad window cleaner} so i think some trad window cleaners are putting people off this system as ive bin window cleaning for donkeys and one thing is for sure if you use wfp correctly it is far better than traditional

1 WORSER CLEANING RESULTS
As you know we have been using pure water, but know we will be using soap ( the same as you use to do your dishes with) your windows will be dry but will get dirty quicker............................. GET USED TO IT
Answer: Use pure water in your bucket with your soap, this will prevent calcium stearate (soap residue) from forming.
2 LESS WORK FOR ME BUT NOT FOR YOU
if you had a conservatory we used to clean above it with the pole, but we cannot do that now so you will have to lean out and do it yourself
Answer: Use a wagtail, and angle adapter on a pole
GET USED TO IT
3 MORE FUEL
If you had a car on the drive we will dusturb you and ask you to move it as we need to get ladders to the window wich means starting your car
Answer: stupid argument, the fuel would be a minute amount.
4 LESS PRIVACY
you are going to lose more privacy I will be looking
Answer: knock before you start and let them know you are there.
5 IT IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT ? that all trad window cleaners are cowboys
Answer: Cheap shot.
Reply: all WFP'r's think about is £££'s
6 MORE MESS we will now be putting holes in your garden from the ladders and if there is water in these holes the ladders are going to drip dirty water all over your drive and these look like little cowpats ...................... GET USED TO IT
Answer: put a ladder stopper under your ladder on lawns, and WFP leaves far more mess
7 DAMAGE
I wii be standing on more roofs now So I might break your tiles ( but your windows will be dry )
Answer: tread carefully
8 ENVIRONMENTLY UNKNOWN
We used to clean your windows using pure water and knowing all about it, but now we are using soapy water... there is going to be dirty water..... dust..Bird-muck in there... Grit...Rabbies...and who knows what else ( but your window will be dry )
Answer: Use a bottle on a belt
9 SAFETY I could fall on your property and will sue
Answer: Use ladders safely, adhereing to H&S law. You could drop your WFP on their car, or contact an electricity cable.
10 IF you are not happy with the new change or do not want us to use this method that dates back to the dinosaurs we will carry on as proffesional window cleaners and use the new method WFP it is the way and the future
Answer: another cheap shot implying that traditional methods are not professional. A bit pathetic.
Wfp is a great technology, opens up new possibilities for a window cleaner, but it seems that a lot of WFP'ers have made it their business to discredit traditional methods to the point that they portray anyone using it unprofessional and dodgy. They seem to forget that many of them started using traditional methods. Also, as pointed out above, nearly every 'advantage' that the WFP system has over traditional can be remedied while still using traditional methods. One last point, WFP is NOT more environmentally friendly. The amount of manufacturing that goes into making all the extra equipment is to be considered. The main concern is that it generates about 55 gallons of waste water per day. That has a far more significant environmental impact than two buckets of water a day. Also, professional window cleaning soaps are generally 100% biodegradable. Ok rant over. I guess I'm just fed up of some smug WFP users who think they know everything.

there is room in this job for both trad and wfp, i still trad bottoms as it gives a nice mix and due to carrying less water. wfp is easier, trad does a better job most of the time, but having fallen a few times, and having a friend who's working life stopped due to a fall, i would never go back to ladders.

just for the record I wasnt having a go at WFP users in general, I think its a great system, in fact I agree 'liphook' that mixing it up is the best method, and if you use a wagtail on the downstairs windows its actually quicker than wfp. The only point I was making is that I dont see why some WFP users speak so disparagingly of the traditional method, and that the 'advantages' they have over traditional methods are often only real advantages if you compare them with the worst kind of traditional window cleaners, the lowest quality ones.
Also, all those 'advantages' that are frequently pointed out, such as more privacy etc. are all second to the number one thing that the customers want; clean windows. If they are getting spotting or the pure water isnt removing all the insect droppings and things like that then they are not going to be happy, regardless of any other benefits they may be getting.
I just find adders comment quite arrogant. He may not ever say any of what he has put here to his customers, but the fact that he wrote it at all demonstrates his attitude, and would do well to bear in mind that his customers are the most important thing he has in his business. He should be doing his best to see their expectations are met and that they are satisfied with what they are paying for, and if for some customers that means using traditional methods on their homes, then so be it.

BOTTOM LINE FOR ME .................
Wfp = more money than Trad, but..... if you look at the number of topics for wfp than trad then WFP will always create problems, that Trad never will. I had some Top boys from big WFP companies say to me and i quote" You will never get a good a finish as Trad cleaning will"
Make me laugh when you here i wfp the tops and Trad the bottoms. Alright you will always have the risk of falling off a ladder, but Wfp has its safety issue and health risks; arthritis in your kneck, back problems, people tripping over your hoses etc

Been on WFP for 4 years, did trad for 17 years before that, started WFP tops only and trad bottoms, over last 6 months i'm now doing WFP both tops and bottoms, also bungalows WFP, this is due to knee problems, ruptures, fluid in knees etc, custies dont have a problem with it, at the end of the day it's how much pride you take in the job, work hard at both WFP and trad and you get great results in both, be shoddy at your work then the results will be poor, there are good WFP'ers and good Trad'ers but also remember there are cowboys out there in both.....SIMPLES.....!!!!!

I second that, would never go back to using ladders totally, there's still places where I have to use them, but if it came to go back to ladders full time,or give up window cleaning,I know which I would do. Been wfp 4 years,19 years trad, and now there's places where I'm losing my nerve for going up the ladder.

As I started reading the first post I was annoyed. Then as I progressed I realised it was ment to be in jest and it did make me smile. However, it should be noted that some of us are WFP, some are trad, and some are both. If you care enough about your business to join in on this or any other window cleaning forum, and share ideas and friendly banter, you are professional. No matter what tools are used, or what clothes you wear, or even what vehicle you have. The so called cowboys arn't interested in their business beyond stuffing cash in their pocket. They arn't ever going to read this because they have no interest in progression and building themselves something that matters. It's these people who arn't professional.
