Iv got all the gear, wfp,van mount, backpack 4.5k round per month but im bored out my tree with window cleaning! Theres no excuse, I know but I just cant get my head in gear to get stuck in like I need to.
Im sick of customers treating me like im 2 bob and chasing people round for 13-15 squid a house that always takes anything from 2 days to 2 months to get paid up for . I never seem to ACRUE any money with this game.
Window cleaning is mind numbing.... People presume you are a boob earning beer money.....(despite how wrong that may be) Its difficult to be taken as a serious business... Earnings are always sucked up in cash flow...
I could go on.
Im feeling a bit dis-illusioned with this game and beginging to look ahead to other horizons. Right now the thought of going out and cleaning bits of glass all day is about as appealing as taking a dump in a portaloo.....

i'm getting a website set up just for a bit of information about the system and for ONLINE PAYMENTS, i'll use paypal. for a 13-15 house it'll cost you about 50p in charges but its tax deductable at the end of the year. its these kind of prices and above say the 20-25 bracket that really seem to cost me when it comes to cash flow, and they are never ever ever at home, its worth a go bud, ive tried everything else, but cheques will soon be obsolete i reckon, they are now for a lot of my customers, they dont even know where they put it from last time they saw me. they just never get used for alot of people today. more and more everything is online, who doesn't use ebay today, then they know all about paypal. if it just works on these type of customers it worth it. keep going mate we've got good weather, and whats the alternative? working for someone else!

i know how you feel , my round is at the same point , and your so right about the mind numbing boredom , anyway for me the money is to good to give up so i,ve taken someone on part time and we do the work in 3 days a week , today i,ve been out canvassing in the coutryside and picked up a £1000.00 of annual work and also been asked to quote for 2 office buildings , you really have to set some goals and when you reach those set some new ones , regards alan

yes you should set goals, mine was first to get into work and start earning enough to pay bills. next was to get driving and build up further afield, then to get WFP and fill each week up. Now i have done them things i have got some help to get my work done in 3 days per week, which leaves the rest of the time to canvass, spend with family and focus on the wheelie bin cleaning business I'm trying to set up. Cant you get someone else to do your work while you run it and focus on other things? people are crying out for work

Whit a bunch of downers some windie cleaners are. I Love this job, love it, wfp nowadays, no monkey work involved anymore, fresh air, banter with custies, freedom, own boss, own buisness, pricing new jobs in this game is a doddle and a wee high when fone goes and even more when you get the job. Start whenever you feel like it or at worst whenever your concience tells you, finish whenever you want, do as much or a little as you feel on any particular day...hey youv got a whole month to make it up when you feel better. Stress free, totally stress free, window cleanin...gotta hurt the brain that job......dont think so. Iv been a self employed joiner for 6 years many moons ago, pricing was a nightmare, too much to write on here by far. Im proud and happy to be rb window cleaning services....happy I say...happy. Things could always be better guys, but they also could be a lot worse. Wake up and smell the hourly rate fur goads sake before you go mad.

have to say i agree with ronnie, i cleaned windows since i was about 5 well maybe 13/14 and hated it, did loads of other jobs and went self employed as a tiler and really hated that so started doing the windows to survive while i built up my tiling businees. before i knew it i was to busy for tiling and never looked back. as ronnie says pricing a w/c job is so simple compared to other trades, i used to put a price in and then had to organise joiner /plumber/ electrician and had nothing left for me this job is great put a price in and do it simples

I done a tiling course over your way Stuart in 2007 in Grangemouth. Big Joak the tiler something or other training school, didnt find it technically challenging, but to do it right was very very time consuming and hard work, we worked on a mock bathroom with loadsa cuts and nooks n crannies behind the toilet and pan and under the sink. Physically I was knackered, knees sore, back aching, fingers cut and ceramic stoor down my throat and up ma nose. [ I should have amended this post ] that. Done 3 tiling jobs, got paid, then gave it up. Hard graft is all I can say.

Dump every one of them who do this, what is the point of working for customers like that, they do not take you seriously simlpe as that. Dump them and let them wasre some other window cleaners time.

suppose its different for every1 but if i can collect 60% of my weekly turnover i,m fine anything else is a bonus as for pricing stu and ronnie are bang on wc is so easy to price and if you mess it up its not too bad i used to make loads of mistakes pricing wc but now i just way over price to be safe priced 1 today looked like a £10-12 hs but went in at £18 and she snapped my hand off just be confident in putting your price across REMEMBER they need you or they wouldnt be asking you to price their job

thats why i didny like it but i could put up with all that but it was the hanging doors after shaving them, removing radiators, and the rest i couldnt stand, and the constant marketing to get work what other job do you market sell and keep the customer for life window cleaning tried to sell my tiling tools but the wife will not let me until ive done the kitchen floor

Hi The local milkman collects on a Thursday evening and all his customers are "scared" of missing him. Some of the old dears wait at a window and watch out for him incase they don't hear the doorbell. We also collect on Thursday and Friday evening with Thursday being the best evening. With 2 of us working debts can soon mount up. Spruce

but its a pipeline that what you put in at one end will come out the other, albeit a little later in some cases. This week we have both collected and banked more than the work we have actually done because of the weather and bank holidays. Last week we never collected on Thursday and Friday (bank holiday) so our collections were less than the value of work we did.
The only time that this doesn't apply is with non payers. In 3 years we have had 4 small amount non payers, and 1 of which I found 18 months later and got a cheque.
We have found it imperative to keep on top of our debt list. So yes, for us there are other things we would like to be doing on Thursday and Friday evenings but collecting is part of the job which is only complete once its paid.
Although my son and I work a separate customer base under the same business, by collecting together we know each others customers so we can cover for each other when necessary. Initially, Cameron collected on Thursday and I collected on Friday, which I found more difficult on my own. It goes much quicker now we do it together. Infact, we didn't bother to go out this Friday as there was so little debt left that it wasn't worth the effort to go out.
