sounds like a faulty split charger to me, when the engine is off the pump on your system shouldnt be allowed to draw from your vehicle battery

Did you fit the split charger yourself?

Could be, if you got a multimeter drop that on battery with engine running, should be between 13 and no more than 14 volts if its doin its job. Then test leisure battery doin the same. Put meter on battery20v or thereabout. As long as its volts side it Will show correct on meter.

Check the earth lead on the alternator isn't corroded, and not getting a proper contact, but it sounds like it could be your van battery mate!

did you get a new battery for the van. if so then it should be fully charged, so after you have driven the van for a little while it should switch over to the second battery.
go for a little drive and check what the voltage is on the rear battery while the engine is running.
