As far as I am aware ionics higher poles are too long when collapsed and a bit on the heavy side I use the lightest of telescopic poles that are capable of that height and its still hard work at real height so wouldnt like anything heavier.

Unless Ionics have radically changed their approach to pole manufacturing, I would imagine that it's just more of the same thing from them- Double the cost for yesterday's technology!!

its interesting that this guy has made 2 posts, but has not replied once to any of the posts, if he wants feedback or banter then he would reply. does seem like he is just spamming sites for free advertisement. in my years of being on this site, im always amazed at Peter letting people advertise their products on here, after all its his site and he pays the fees and maintains it, and they are selling a product to rival him.......he is either a really easy going guy or a bit of a nutter

as Liphoop stated this bloke aint joined this site to share experiences or interact or share banter with other members, he's just here to promote his business and sell Ionics poles and equipment, maybe hes and Ionics plant or plantpot whatever way you look at it.
he just wants us all to hit his website and make him look really popular which in my books makes him a creep, he has no intention of replying to the replies that he has had to his few posts which sound just like Ionics customer service

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay and would appreciate it if you go a little easy on me as its more or less my first time using the forum.
With relation to the 80Feet pole, its not too heavy and unlike the former Ergolite range of Ionics poles, its made completely different. We fit this in our medium wheelbase Transit van and do not use a ladder to erect it. Its very light and although i would not recommend this for day to day use, its good for the odd building where you would normally pay out for a cherry picker.
Sorry if you feel i need hits to my site as this is far from the truth as my SEO is in order from external sources and i was meerly trying to get involved but had nothing to add initially.
regards all
Keith

your entitled to an opinion and to praise the equipment that you use/sell. but you wont find many fans of ionics on these forums due to far superior products being available at a 3rd of the price ionics or resellers sell them for.

Clear view I am an ex Ionics customer and have no axe to grind, I note that you no longer compare it to the ergolight, whats the diameter of the base section and what does it feel like in your hand, the pole I have is approx 2" I have seen the grafter in the last cleaning show.

Hi Guys,
Personally, i do not like the Grafter as the carbon fibre does not last 5 mins in my opinion but we do hammer out the poles nearly 7 days a week.
The new compact range of carbon fibre poles are much slender and almost half the weight of the Ergo but the jury is out on how long they last as already we are changing sections due to wear. Although we are distributors for Ionic, as you will see, i am not afraid to speak my mind on the poles and if you can guys can recommend a better brand then i am willing to listen and possibly give them a try.
I will measure the base section tomorrow and let you know and your always welcome, if your ever down near the London way to come and try it out.
take care
Keith

Ionics - Excel Poles have lost a lot of ground to the simple fishing poles concept of modular c/f design, they have also been relatively quiet, I just wonder if, with the cleaning show shortly whether they will have caught up yet ?

GARDINERS POLE SYSTEMS get my vote for manufactured poles capable of up to 83ft reach and as light rigid as they come except if you go the diy route as jeff suggests and build a modular fishing pole based wfp.

Are the diy fishing poles just as good as the factory made ones?

Hmm, the brodex I tried at the Fed show felt just like any other re branded fishing pole -the Ron thompson Carp Gangster gets to 29ft for £60ish. I took the picture Karlos uses in his blog profile You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login at the same show using one, and then sold him a Garbolino 80fter. How much higher do you want to go ?
