From jake the puss thread . . .
christ, this is turning into c.i.u.
I've been thinking that for a wee while now, and it's not the way I want to see the board heading.
This board is very easy-going, everybody knows the score, but on occasion language you might use when talking to mates ends up on the forum. Mostly Friday to Sunday and late at night, I've probably been guilty myself in the past. A couple of weeks or so back it turned into a bit of a game, substituting words which should be in the censor for soft drinks. Mods are easily entertained - but you probably know that by now.
Does anyone know how many of the fairer persuasion are members of the forum? About two per cent - but when was the last time you knew there was a female posting? I can't recall. Maybe the language is putting them off? I'm not sure, but it won't help.
How about we all get involved in self-moderation before things get daft?
Any newbies get a welcome by whoever catches their first post - which quite often happens already.
If you reckon a post is a bit iffy, just click on the Report To Moderator link at the bottom right, someone will pick it up. It's not sticking someone in, it's keeping the forum straight.
To wean things in on the language front, we can have a week's grace where you try not to do it. After that any post with swearing, or words with symbols in to get past the censor, simply gets deleted - swearing just should not be on a public forum.
It might be heavy going for a while, but it should work.
Deal?
