The Blue Screen Of Death

Hi members,had the third `blue screen of death`on my computer
This morning.That’s the third in about 2 years.
Whats the cause of it and what needs to be done if it happens again
In the near future.

There's all kinds of reasons for the dreaded blue screen - best thing I can recommend is taking good care of your PC on a regular basis. Try -
1. Regular running of the defragmentation tool
2. Regular clean ups of the hard drive
3. Get rid of files and programs that you don't need / use
4. Remove unnecessary start up items
5. Keep all your software up to date with the latest patches
6. Make regular backups to a separate hard drive just in case the PC dies.

The third in TWO YEARS? That's nothing! If it was the third today then I'd be worrying!

BSoDs (as they're know to their friends) can be caused by many things. The usual cause is a program being naughty and trying to do something it shouldn't. As the PC can't process the programs demands, kaboom. This isn't necessary limited to virii as it can happen with a badly written commercial program too. As I said there are many other causes, but I won't frighten you all by listing them!
