I filled my van up today first time for 3 weeks and was amazed at how much the price had gone up. I paid £1.27.9 per litre today. 3 weeks ago it was £1.17. How much is it where you live? Also why is deisel 14p a litre more than petrol? Anyone know the answer? Except Alistair Darling of course!!

sainsbury are 121.9 by me
if a owner of a garage has loads of stations the deisel will be cheap. if he/ she only has the one they will be sky high

With LPG currently averaging @ 55p per litre here I'm looking at converting. Thats a saving of around 70p PER LITRE.... Thats a saving of £35 per week on my fuel costs of 50 litres. Also if you speak to STEVE @ You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login they do a £350 unit that can be fitted in about 1 hr that will give you a saving of 5 - 10% straight away Regards Mr H

Regards Mr H
When I was looking for a van last year I nearly brought one that runs on LPG. I knew I would save money on fuel but diesel was a lot cheaper last year and the savings didn't tempt me to buy it. A big mistake that. If I'd known diesel prices would soar I would of brought it. LPG is 60p a litre down here. I believe it is 25% less effecient so you need to buy 25% more of it to do the same miles. So, that is the equivalent of paying 75p a litre. A saving of over £2 a gallon. Recently, I've been buying bio diesel. It was 85p a litre then rose to 95p. Went to fill up last week and it's gone up to £1.05. Some places are charging £1.30 for diesel so it's still £1 a gallon cheaper. I've also put veg oil in the tank. Got some for 92p a litre in the co-op, but then it shot up to £1.13. It's 99p a litre in the spa supermarket up the road. Might have to buy some more.

Just heard on the news that truckers are heading for London to protest about price of deisel. One haulage company said their deisel costs had gone up by £40,000 a month since October last year. Watch this space.

heres my soloution, the price can't be helped its a fact its just gonna keep going up,but heres how to take the sting out of filling up...just as a round figure lets say you do £100 a day, just do that extra 20 mins/half n hour and do £110 then stick the extra tenner some where in the car and forget about it (i put mine inside the sun visor) then on friday you have 50 quid towards next weeks fuel..ive been doing this for the past 4 weeks and it works for me..ok its psycological and your still paying through the nose but it doesn't seem as bad

That information was sourced from a website all about lpg. If you have a vehicle with w big engine {over2.0) then the loss of power will hardly be noticeable whereas your average 1.6 -1.8 will notice the power loss.

Also why is deisel 14p a litre more than petrol? Anyone know the answer? Except Alistair Darling of course!! Among other things there are two types of crude oil - light and heavy. There's a world shortage of light crude which is the stuff that is best for making diesel hence the higher price. Coupled with the fact that the middle east practically gives the stuff away in their own country - selling petrol for 10p a litre. Would it be worth buying a second hand petrol tanker and doing a run to Iran???
