just did a builders style clean the other day and each set of windows had 3 or 4 different company stickers on. the worst was the final companies stickers as the residue was horrendous, so much so i found that using white spirit with a scraper then using white spirit and a rag to clean the whole window was the only thing effective. 1, why in blazes do companies do this 2, what do other folks do with this issue?
cheers andy

try titan labs oil flo type " Titan labs oil flo england " in google search costs roughly 7 pounds.. stinks to high heaven but does work.......... get the bulk of the paper off with warm water and soap if you can and let the oil flo take away the glue / adhesive .. Nail Varnish remover is also very good costs less and is easy to get ...

We use a stuff called DETAK. It's a chewing gum remover, but works wonders on glue. Have done 1000s of builders clean windows with this stuff. You are not allowed to view links.
Register or LoginJust put some on a cloth & you can rub the glue off with it. I wouldn't put any on my wfp though.

No mate. I am orginally from the midlands though. Nearer Dudley. But now live in Scotland. You think the weather's bad in the midlands!?! I just put the link to that website cos that was the first site that google brought up for 'Detak'. It's the same price as the shop I get it from up here though.

Yea it sort of disolves the glue so I always mop & blade it down after I've got sticker off (Use an old rubber though cos the stuff can wreck your rubber if you leave it on for a long time). It shouldn't be a problem to wfp it after you've done the initial clean by hand though. That's what I do.

P.s I should mention that I pull the sticker off first, and then use Detak to get the nasty backing stuff that sticks to glass.
Use it in a spray bottle, spray it on, leave it for 20 secs then rub it with cloth. Or if it's very stubborn you might need a scraper too.
