Put the fact that you do this on the windows cleaned slip you put through the door.  Or have a flyer made to post through the doors when your cleaning the windows.

I always thought about selling advertising space on my slips when I cleaned windows, but I never got round to it.

Yeh same here franky, we have this service advertise along side our windows, so on website, flyers ... So when canvassing for windows work we have had the odd call for just gutter cleaning or conservatory roof cleaning too.

Bit hard to just earn a living from gutter cleaning but very good wage boosting when we do them! Well if priced up good! Other wise you might find that you could do earn more money doing windows! So need to be worth it  Wink

ive just recently started adding gutters and enjoy it,the good money  . so far i have been raking it along and mainly letting it drop to the floor and then later brushing it into my bucket . but then this takes time sweeping.  any tips on how to use a bucket up on ladder ?

get a strong metal peice and shape it in to two opposite facing hooks, then clip the bucket on to the gutter then you can just drop it in to the bucket and drag the muck to the bucket Wink

or use a bungy cord also for a quick cheap option just wrap it around twice and hook both ends on to the gutter

how about cleaning the outside of the gutters along with the facia boards? I've been looking for a curved brush with jets int to do this along with downpipes. flat brush takes too much time. Thought of heating up an old brush and seeing if it will reshape but i haven't got one at the moment.

I have been thinking along the same lines I think it might be worth trying with a £2-£3 supermarket brush first.
Also anyone jetwash the insides of the gutters as I just got a nice little ultra portable jetwash I was thinking would be good for a quick jet out.

Hi People,

How much do you charge for gutter cleaning? Got a few to do but don't really know where to start with quoting, don't want to under cut myself but at the same time don't want to over charge. Not sure if it makes any difference but i live in Essex, SE England

Cheers

try to get a little higher than your normal hourly rate for cleaning windows as its harder. Be carefull though it takes a surprising length of time to do a good job.

Write to your customers twice a year advising them to have the gutters cleaned and offering a discount of some sort.

I had some people doing this to my custies last year ,saying I had sent them, luckily they didn't fall for it and said no thanks ,the window cleaner always dos them himself.  One custie told them to call back later as thet were going out, they did and demanded £30 for the job done, stupidly she paid up,when I came to do the windows, she told me about thse guys,I checked the gutters and they hadn't been touched  robbing so and so's.  Point is,people are wary of cold callers.

Fair play to them ,what I was complaining about was, these chaps were using my name as a means to get  work, that they didn't do anyway
