I have the RUG DOCTOR , cost about £475 from a place in Bradford .Its been used loads on my own house which has basically paid for itself with just  my house .
About £475
need a wand £20 ,
Chemical detergents about say , 1, green cystals prochem £25ish last a few months
2.Foam reducer £12
3.Pre Spotter £25 last a few months again depending on usage .
4 . Deodidriser not always needed £15
5. basic bucket, pump spray bottle -£20
One or two others but thats the basics .

I have done it as a add on to my wfp business , good when its raining .
Charge £30 for first carpet then £15 there after .
Or £20+ a hour
Or small terrace £50 full clean
4 bed detached £80
Prices vary , but £20 per hour is easy and easy work .

The rug doctor is a very good basic machine , prbably the best in terms of money value

Thanks for the replys guys, I was just thinking of it as a future investment something to when the weathers bad,
I dont really understand all the stuff on your list kempy I have used a rug doctor but only on a fairly clean carpet and there was only one bottle of detergent,
could you explain the process to me and what all the different chemicals are for,
Thanks,
Liam.

A pre spotter , so you spray onto the carpet first , wait 5 mins or do another room , and then agitate/brushing  into the carpet  using a carpet cleaning brush/wand .This is for pre machine use,  it just gives it that extra boost to cleaning .

foam reducer is put into the waste tank to prevent foaming in the waste tank .
Deodriser put into the shampoo solution for a nice smell .
Tin foil put under wooden legs of settee's once cleaned .

loads of products for certain stains , basically buy one good one for multi use to begin with ,

All i do is my own , friends and family and a few regular wfp custies .
Had a few one off  commercial jobs .

For about £750 you can be well up and running .

Paid for itself easily .
My house plus rugs would be £80 ish , i have done mine , specially with kids about , twice a yr for 3/4 yrs .
Approx Paid for the machine .
Done a few wfp customers , one or two regular .
One or two commercial jobs .
Never advertised it really , are lasses work collegues .

As i say one job a month , a days work when raining is ok for me .
That busy with windows that im not that bothered anyway .

i had a prochem machine which is 1of the best on the market, i got it in with the business but after doing a few cleans i found it to be really hard work for the return and the jobs are few and far between if its not being pushed as your main business, i flogged it and used the cash to set myself up with the wfp set up and havent looked back since!!!! Carpet cleaning is my main business and a rug doctor is definitely not what you want something like this would be better if on a tight budget

friends and family
 a few window custies

never pushed it really , but ie paid for the machine and products easily , and also i can do my own house x2  a year which saves about £80 a time so thats like £160 a yr on top .

worth it for your own house . family etc .

add on to your window cleaning slips , if you price work cheap you get a few when raining from your rounds .
Once you do one custie you tend to get a few

Dont like the sounds of those prices particulary if you are spending out on chemicals.

you all need to put up your prices for cleaning carpets to an average of close to half price of
replacing carpet .
or at least 30 an hour to pay for travel ,,, chemicals and your time

Hi guys,

Been offered a job to clean a pubs carpets in June. Ive got a rug doctor machine that i use for my carpets plus family and friends but i guess its not upto the job of cleaning commercial plots.  I was just wondering if i could hire an industrail machine for a day that would do a superb job, any ideas?
It also has to clean some upholstery ( 2 sofas and about 40 chairs) any help would be appereciated.
Many thanks
Floydy
