What kind of advertising are you using? Some of the methods I am considering are flyers, brochures, and bulk mail. Also I have been looking for website that contractors can use for advertising. So I would like to hear your thoughts and experiences about how to get your name out there.

Flyers are good and a website (listed on your flyers) that potential customers can check out is invaluable.  Lots of customers have commented that they like being able to see and read about their potential window cleaner before giving them a call.

I use yellow pages too and make sure its on my fliers so if they lose the flier or remember a month down the line they may also remember ah he was in the yellow pages ill look him up  Grin.
It also looks more legitimate and gives a more professional impression.

just an observation but any fliers that come through my door go in the bin, I have a quick glance but i usually get any tradesmen from personal recomendations, you cant beat word of mouth for bringing work in..

Flyers are a waste of time as above put 1000 out one morning got 1 job front that still got 4000 in the loft Lol. Sign writing on your van works picked up many jobs from that and word of mouth is the biggest seller do a good job be regular go all out to please its a sure winner  Grin

There's nothing wrong with flyers but you have to go back in person the next day to any house you put one in.People respond much better when they can see you in person.Ring the bell and say something like ''hello,i dropped off a leaflet yesterday about my window cleaning service.I'm trying to expand my business/round in this area and i wondered if you'd be interested''.Better to say you're expanding your round then it sounds like you're experienced and have existing customers rather than some chancer looking for some easy extra money.

I find a good informative search engine optimised website is a must. Content is king!

Most of my new work now comes from recommendations & website enquiries.
